Quick Write: Stuck on an Island

So I'm on an island and can only bring an Instrument, a girl, and the discography of a music artist.

The first part is easy, I would always bring a Guitar. It's not the only instrument I play, but it's the best instrument to "noodle" around on and write songs on. I know the basics, but there is lots more to learn, and it would take me LOTS of years to learn it all.
The second part isn't that difficult either. Obviously, I would take my girlfriend. Not much of a decision there.
The third part is BY FAR the hardest thing to decide. I try to listen to lots of music, and my tastes are always changing. Sometimes I'll like an artist for a long time, sometimes I'll get relatively sick of a song pretty quickly. As a result any old band that I choose would get old, quick. Ultimately, my final contenders are all very different and surprising to anyone who knew what kind of music I like. It's between The Beatles, Bob Dylan, or Radiohead. The Beatles are an obvious contender as their music is timeless and you can analyze it on so many different levels. Bob Dylan is also the same in that respect, only I haven't listened to him really at all. Radiohead because although they're not a "classic" (yet) their music is so amazing and diverse, not to mention I'll listen to a song multiple times and hear new parts or elements of a song. Ultimately, I would probably pick Bob Dylan because (I've heard, assumed, and am hoping) it would take a lifetime to fully realize the genius of his songs and lyrics.

Quick Write: Did you Know?

In Creative Writing, we just watched a video called "Did you Know?" it had about fifty different, and a little random, figures ranging from the number of internet devices to the population of China. After watching it, you have to wonder, "is life getting better, or worse?" On one side, you have innovation. Every year new advancements are made in the fields of cars, computers, and phones that didn't even seem conceivable a few years prior.
On the other side, however, you see all the issues we face as a species, some of which many people (especially Americans) choose to ignore. First off, there is the amazing amount of corporate greed and political corruption that goes on in every country. And then there's all the poverty, hunger, and suffering that goes on in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Many regions are plagued by droughts, wars, etc. quite frequently, all while we get to sit here and have everything handed to us on a silver platter (not entirely true, but you should understand what I'm getting at).
I'm not trying to sound really depressing, and there are plenty of GOOD things that are going to nowadays too. All i'm trying to get at is that we should be watchful about what we're doing and not remain completely ignorant about the goings on of the rest of the world.

Quick Write: Hockey Poem

It starts on the dot.
Teams line up, facing each other.
Poised to move any second, all eyes are on the ref.
With a flick of the wrist, the ref drops the puck.

The centers both try to grab for the puck,
The bear pulls the puck behind him, the de picks it up.
Stood up at the red line, the de shoots the puck,
it hits the boards.

Patriot and bear, neck and neck
Race for the puck
Bear passes it out to his de,
he shoots

It hits the goalie and falls to the ice,
Patriots and bears scramble
and then
A red light goes off, bears scored.
